Welcome to The Granary

July 2026

We love welcoming guests. Charlie and Julia have a lifetime’s worth of hospitality experience: Charlie worked for the Savoy Group, The Halkin and St James’s Club in London; Julia spent fifteen years working in Hong Kong and America. We think our quality driven approach makes the Larkbeare brand very distinctive – following hot on the heels of our B&B success we wanted to create a luxury self-catering getaway to run alongside, making it the perfect package. And so, The Granary was opened in 2015.

The Granary is accessible and our latest addition are electric venetian blinds in the sitting room.   For further details see our Accessibility Guide.

Perfectly situated in East Devon countryside, 9 miles east of Exeter, 2 miles from the A30 dual carriageway.  Just half an hour from the beautiful East & South Devon coastlines and world-famous Dartmoor, we offer you a great base in which to relax, explore and enjoy the whole of Devon!  Plus, we have a Pod Point EV charger ⚡

We are pleased to have achieved the Green Tourism Gold Award again and have  a Net Zero Standard accreditation.

The local area:

Head to the coast

If you head to the coast then you are in for a treat! The coastal towns of Beer, Branscombe, Sidmouth, Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton  are all a short drive away – and very popular for fish and chips in the evening during the summer months.

Explore in-land

You won’t be able to explore all 370 square miles of Dartmoor, but whichever parts you do, they’re sure to be breathtaking. Heading down to the Exeter quayside is another great spot for lunch and the city is packed full of history.
